Always Watching, Always Involved
"The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:26 NIV)
The Stay-At-Home Order where I live was just extended yesterday to May 1st. This further means that non-essential businesses are going to remain closed, large groups and gatherings remain off-limits, and schools being closed for the rest of the school year is imminent. For many people, the feeling of isolation which we have been experiencing as a result of having to stay in our homes and away from our favorite entertainments and restaurants is only going to be stronger. Those of us who have had to be isolated from our family members and friends because of health concerns are also going to be experiencing more feelings of isolation for at least the next month. All of this simply adds to the struggle we've been having, which seems like it has been going on for a long time already.
Yet today we have the promise, and the guarantee, that we are never isolated. God is always with us. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-seeing, which means that He is everywhere at once. He is also watching over us all the time, to take care of us and show His love for us. He is close by at all times, rather than being far away. He is always involved in our lives, and He is always active with us at all times. Nothing can separate us from Him, nothing can take us away from Him, and nothing can isolate us from Him.
We are also far from isolated from each other, because, although we may not be able to be with each other physically, we are still with each other through being brought together by God, especially through prayer. Whenever we pray for each other, we are united, and we are together. Whenever we ask God to be with our family members and friends from whom we have to be apart for a time, we are united with them. This is because we have the promise that God is just as active and involved with our family members and friends as He is with us, and is making our bonds with each other strong. God is always with us - we are never isolated from Him.
Dear God, thank you that you're always watching over me, you're always with me, and you're always involved. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
