Our Champion

"Give us aid against the enemy, for human help is worthless. With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies." (Psalm 60:11-12 NIV)

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Happy Easter to you!

One of the worst feelings is feeling alone. The other is feeling helpless. As in, completely and utterly having to face a problem, a task, or any kind of hard situation entirely on one's own, without the knowledge or resources to be able to do so with any kind of confidence. We feel defeated whenever we face such a problem, and want to give up and give in, especially give in to hopelessness. It is a scary feeling, because we have to fight on our own, and feel fearful because no one else seems to want to fight for us, help us, or come to our aid in any way. This can also cause us to be angry and bitter, as we believe no one cares enough to want to see us succeed, or be able to overcome whatever it is we have to face.

Fortunately, we have someone who, in every struggle, conflict, or any kind of situation is not only always with us, but is actively fighting on our side - Jesus. Jesus is always for us, cares for us, and always wants to stand up for us. He did so by achieving the ultimate victory on our behalf - victory over the devil, sin, and death. Then, by rising again, He shows that He is alive forever, and cannot die again, or ever be defeated. He rose again to promise that, no matter what, He is always with us, fighting on our side, winning victory for us.

This means that, no matter how impossible our situation may seem, we always can believe we have Jesus on our side. He can overcome even the most difficult of circumstances to win victory on our behalf. After all, if He was able to defeat death, nothing can stand against Him. We also have the promise that He never stands against us, but always cares for us and loves us. He reigns supreme, and is immortal. He cannot be defeated by anything, even though we may feel defeated. But our defeat can give way to confidence, not in ourselves, but in the power of Jesus. Our hopelessness can give way to hope. Our anger and bitterness can give way to joy and anticipation, because we know Jesus is alway on our side and fighting for us. Jesus is risen in victory- and He is always with us to win victory for us!

Dear Jesus, thank you that you won for me what I could not on my own - freedom from sin, and eternal life. In your Name, Amen.

Pray at All Times "Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." (Ephesians 6:18 NIV) Today, and every day, we need prayer more than ever. Though there is talk of re-opening various state economies, even lifting restrictions on stay-at-home orders, progress continues to move slowly. While the increasing number of positive coronavirus results may simply indicate more testing, the coronavirus is still not going away. Our schools, and many other businesses, remain closed, and their future schedules and logistics remain uncertain. We need to turn to God in prayer for His help and deliverance more than ever today. There are many who are also on the front lines both of fighting the coronavirus, as well as those who continue to work even despite potential continued exposure to the coronavirus, who bravely and courageously continue to serve and even help heal and co...

Still Connected "These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God, under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy  and praise among the festive throng." (Psalm 42:4 NIV) One of the hardest adjustments many of us have had to make has been our churches closing. Worship services have stopped for at least the last couple of weeks all over the country, and this has affected both small and large churches. It has been hard having to stay home, seemingly disconnected from our friends and support at our churches, and having our worship routines seemingly disrupted. Yet the good news is that God is with us, any time, any where. He is not confined to one location, building, time of day, or day of the week. He is with us at every moment, and does not take a break from watching over us, because He is all-powerful. He is almighty and all-seeing, so He is able to be everywhere at once, and handle everything for every per...

Looking Forward to Next "I   am   with   you  and will watch over  you  wherever  you  go, and  I  will bring  you  back to this land.  I  will not leave  you  until  I  have done what  I  have promised  you .” (Genesis 28:15 NIV) By now, things have definitely changed. Things simply are not the same as they once were. We are having to stay home, families are having to homeschool children, many people who work in healthcare, childcare, and other "essential" jobs have extra workloads, and those who are working from home are still dealing with the realities of doing so. Stores still remain short of certain items. Many people have been laid off from their jobs, and are wondering about finding a new paycheck. The number of those infected increases exponentially, and the death toll continues to rise. The pandemic  has put us on a journey, which we do not exactly ho...
